Laminated or layered glass forms part of the so-called safety glass that is used for accident-prevention, vandal-proof, anti-intrusion and shatterproof purposes in residential, commercial or industrial building. Consisting of two or more layers of glass held together by special adhesive sheets of PVB (polyvinyl butyral), laminated safety glass is a structural material with high levels of safety and security.

In fact, as well as being particularly resistant to intrusion attempts and shattering, laminated glass is perfectly safe even in the event of accidental breakage: the presence of the PVB film prevents the dispersion of sharp shards, keeping the breakage localised at the point of impact and preventing the occurrence of possible accidents.
