The features of bulletproof glass are such as to give it the capacity to resist penetration when struck by bullets. Optically transparent, bulletproof glass, also known as ballistic glass or transparent armour, can be used with the combination of two or more types of glass, one fixed and one soft, or by the insertion of a safety rolled section or plastic film on the surface of the glass. In the former case, bulletproof glass is made elastic by the presence of the soft layer, which makes it bend rather than explode; in the latter case, it is the presence of the safety film which provides protection similar to that guaranteed by multi-layer bulletproof glass.

As regards the areas of application of bulletproof glass, it is recommended for the creation of windows for jewellers, haute couture boutiques and shops selling precious objects, bank cashier windows, post offices, tax offices, credit institutions, insurance companies, gold traders and any other office, business or public building in which there is a steady flow of cash or valuables, as well as in museums, art galleries and exhibitions of works, finds and objects of value, weapons or explosives stores and, based upon the risks, accommodation facilities, government offices and residential properties.
