Characterised by very low co-efficient of expansion, glass-ceramics lend themselves well to all applications where significant resistance to high temperatures and sudden changes of temperature is required: this material is actually able to withstand temperatures of 800°C and constitutes an excellent filter for UV rays. Those characteristics make glass-ceramics ideal for protection for metal halide lamps, and more generally for all applications that require resistance to high temperatures.

Non-porous, characterised by high mechanical resistance and by good qualities of transparency, glass-ceramics lend themselves well to technical and decorative purposes.
