Thanks to the use of cutting-edge production technologies, Vetreria Re is able to develop the most innovative products in terms of design and functionality. This results in an extensive catalog which, regarding safety crystals, includes coupled glass, laminated glass, tempered crystals, armored glass, and shatterproof, accident-prevention, and anti-intrusion safety crystals.

Vetreria Re: Shatterproof Safety Crystals

Vetreria Re’s proposals in the security sector include a wide range of highly customizable products, which are made to measure to achieve maximum customer satisfaction. Vetreria Re supports the client throughout all phases of the product’s life to always ensure maximum quality and safety. To maximize the safety levels of residential, commercial, or industrial buildings, it is important to adopt all necessary technical measures during the construction or renovation phase. In particular, such measures are necessary in the case of exposed, isolated buildings or those containing high-value goods. In addition to installing armored doors, iron grilles, and reinforced frames, it is important to protect the most vulnerable areas of every building with the application of special shatterproof safety crystals, capable of resisting intrusion attempts, break-ins, or other acts of vandalism.

Composed of two crystal panes of various thicknesses, joined together by a special plastic film (PVB), shatterproof glass panes are able to offer high resistance against break-in and smashing attempts, while simultaneously avoiding shattering into a thousand pieces in the event of breakage. This last characteristic identifies the high passive resistance values offered by shatterproof crystals and makes them suitable for installation in domestic environments, or anywhere an accidental break could risk harming people or property.

Often, shatterproof glass is required by law, for example, in public construction works, due to its ability to shatter into non-sharp fragments even upon breakage. In addition to acting as a countermeasure against potential theft attempts, shatterproof glass is widely used in commercial premises and public buildings to avoid exposing patrons and workers to the danger caused by accidental breakage. Furthermore, being composed of several layers interspersed with plastic material, in addition to being particularly robust and resistant, shatterproof tempered crystal also provides a good level of heat and noise insulation. The protection and resistance factors of shatterproof crystals vary based on the number and thickness of the glass and film layers. The classification of shatterproof glass is carried out based on the provisions of the UNI 9186 standard, which provides for three resistance classes.

Shatterproof Crystals: Where to Apply Them

Suitable for the creation of shop windows, display cases, internal glazing for banks and offices, security walls, urban furniture elements—such as canopies, railings, or telephone booths—glass stairs, shower enclosures, fixed or sliding transparent walls, curtain walls, sliding sash frames, and automatic doors, shatterproof safety crystal represents a security system capable of preventing damage to property or people in the event of breakage. Vetreria Re, active for over 20 years in the field of design, creation, and installation of structural glass elements, supports and advises the client through all phases of choosing the most suitable crystals to achieve the required degree of safety. These include armored glass, coupled glass, tempered and laminated crystals, and accident-prevention, anti-intrusion, and shatterproof safety crystals. Each solution is crafted to ensure a high-quality finish, maximum comfort, and superior acoustic silence.
