To protect the security of your home or workplace against potential intrusion attempts, Vetreria Re offers special certified safety glasses capable of resisting smashing and break-in attempts. Among the anti-intrusion safety crystals, tempered glass and laminated glass stand out in particular for their shatterproof characteristics, which make them capable of preventing and avoiding any intrusion attempt.

Anti-Intrusion Safety Crystals

The definition of safety crystal applies to all types of glass subjected to specific transformation processes that grant them safe breakage modes. In other words, even if the safety crystal were to break, people or objects located near the glass are not threatened by the danger of sharp shards that could cause significant damage. Furthermore, thanks to their particular constitutive characteristics, anti-intrusion safety glasses are able to resist break-in or smashing attempts.

Specifically, laminated safety crystal is composed of at least two glass panes of variable thickness, which are kept joined by one or more sheets of plastic material (generally PVB – polyvinyl butyral). Depending on the number of panes and layers of plastic material, the anti-intrusion laminated glass will be able to provide different levels of security and protection. Like all safety crystals, in the event of breakage, laminated anti-intrusion glass does not pose a danger to the safety of people and property, as the plastic interlayer is able to retain the glass fragments, reducing the risk of cutting and piercing wounds. Moreover, by limiting the size of the opening and offering a good level of resistance to smashing attempts, laminated glass—also known as coupled glass—can rightly be considered an excellent anti-intrusion device.

Another model of anti-intrusion safety glass is tempered glass, which is obtained through a heating process (tempering) at approximately 640°C in a specific furnace, followed by the abrupt cooling of the outer surface. This procedure causes contractions of the external part of the pane while the internal part remains viscous, inducing a state of permanent tension in the crystal. Tempered glass features superior anti-intrusion resistance characteristics, granting the glass greater mechanical strength and making it more resistant to break-in attempts, thermal shocks, and bending. Like other glasses defined as safety-grade, tempered crystal also breaks into numerous fragments with generally rounded edges, so as not to cause danger to the safety of property or people.

Vetreria Re: Safety Glass for Over 20 Years

Vetreria Re has been involved in the design, creation, and installation of anti-intrusion safety glass in domestic, commercial, and industrial settings for over 20 years. With a wide range of safety crystals—including tempered and laminated crystals, coupled and armored glass, as well as accident-prevention and shatterproof safety crystals—Vetreria Re is able to offer every client the most suitable solution to increase the level of security at home and at work. The security of buildings, in fact, also depends on choosing the right glass: what is the point of installing security frames, armored doors, and protection grilles if the glass remains a vulnerable element to intrusion attempts?

Thanks to technical progress, it is now possible to do much more to prevent burglary and break-in attempts by applying the most secure anti-intrusion glass produced by Vetreria Re to windows and French doors. Anti-intrusion safety glasses represent, first and foremost, a decisive deterrent and, secondly, an effective form of defense for the building, thanks to their ability to make any intrusion attempt extremely more laborious and complex. To reduce the vulnerability of shops, offices, private homes, museums, or companies, contact Vetreria Re to learn about the most innovative proposals regarding anti-intrusion safety crystals. These solutions also ensure high standards of acoustic silence and a refined finish, providing long-lasting comfort and peace of mind.
