Widely used for shower enclosures and other architectural elements—as well as in the nautical, railway, and automotive sectors, food display counters, and lighting design—curved glass and crystal are highly specialized products that represent the flagship of Vetreria Re, based in Nerviano (MI).
A benchmark for glass processing in Lombardy since 1989, and now operating across Italy, Europe, and globally, Vetreria Re guarantees absolute precision. Even the most complex glass structures are built upon meticulous feasibility studies, rigorous product engineering, and manufacturing that utilizes the most advanced technologies in the industry.
The Glass Bending Process
The process of bending glass and crystal essentially follows three stages:
-
Casting of molten glass or crystal into specific curved molds.
-
Thermal control softening of specific points on the sheet’s surface to allow for the desired shaping.
-
The Master Bender’s intervention: a professional figure who undergoes extensive training under an expert master glazier, performing the necessary maneuvers to imprint the final curved form onto the prepared sheet.
The pursuit of increasingly complex shapes to satisfy design and technical demands has relied on the technological evolution of the product. Glass has moved beyond a simple closing element to become a structural component. In many applications, bare glass and crystal have replaced metal frames, resulting in a cleaner aesthetic and superior design (consider the stunning beauty of curved glass shower enclosures, or artistic furniture like coffee tables, lamps, and balustrades). Consequently, this has led to greater investments in safety.
Whether for furniture, automotive, nautical, or architectural sectors, safety is never compromised. For every project featuring curved elements, Vetreria Re uses exclusively structural safety glass. These materials are naturally suited to be molded and transformed, becoming protagonists in creative design as well as in high-security applications. Modern processing techniques ensure maximum impact resistance and structural durability, paired with an exceptionally refined and silent aesthetic.
