Also known by some as the &#8220;cathedral technique,&#8221; leaded glass allows for the composition of artistic windows of any size capable of furnishing and providing personality to any environment, making it unique and unforgettable. Vetreria Re, active in the field of glass processing and the creation of artistic and industrial windows since 1989, is able to manage all phases of the design and creation of artistic windows and glass decorations made with the leaded glass technique.<\/p>\n<details class=\"re-acc\">\n<summary>What Is Leaded Glass<\/summary>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"1\">However, since not everyone knows what this ancient method of glass decoration consists of, the purpose of this page is also to explain the leaded glass technique for creating artistic windows with timeless charm. To create artistic windows with the leaded glass method, it is first necessary to prepare a 1:1 scale draft of the window to be made, then the preparatory cardboard is cut, which will serve as the base for creating the lead structure that will form the frame of the window. The drawing phase is a fundamental step in the manufacturing process of leaded glass. Generally, initial sketches are made with the client to define the decorative motif, based on the measurements and intended use of the window, as well as to choose which types and colors of glass sheets to use; then the drawings are refined to create cardboard templates. At this point, using a glowing iron or a diamond tip, it is possible to begin cutting the glass sheets to be used for the creation of the artistic window.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">The raw material can be pot glass\u2014colored by adding rust, cobalt, or copper to calcium oxide and potassium carbonate, the basic components of glass\u2014or flashed glass\u2014glass colored by overlapping multiple layers of different color shades. The glass fragments thus obtained and shaped according to the desired forms are then mounted on a temporary grid, which also allows for any decorations painted with grisaille and fixed by high-temperature firing. Finally, the sheets are framed and joined together using thin lead cames, and then mounted on the frame to form the desired decorations and designs on the window, ensuring a high-quality <b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"637\">finish<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">The leaded window is therefore a sort of mosaic created by the juxtaposition of appropriately shaped and colored glass tiles, held together by thin lead wires. Leaded glass differs from the so-called Tiffany technique, designed by Charles Lewis Tiffany, as the latter uses thin copper strips soldered together with tin instead of lead. While glass decoration with lead binding was originally intended mainly for religious architecture, today this technique for creating artistic windows allows for the personalization of domestic interiors, hospitality structures, showrooms, public spaces, and various commercial businesses, enhancing overall <b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"1289\">comfort<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details class=\"re-acc\">\n<summary>Why Choose Leaded Glass<\/summary>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">Thanks to the specific technique with which they are made, leaded windows offer remarkable impact resistance and high security.
